Patrol 6 is made up of families from all over the Denver Metro and foothills. Our age group ranges from young families to retired. We accommodate all vehicles, experience levels and enjoy moderate to difficult types of wheeling. We have an adopt-a-road in Summit County and like to stay involved with land use issues in our state. We run mostly day trips but have some overnights and night runs each year. We try to have up to three trail runs available each month during the summer. We firmly believe there are many fun things to do in the mountains and half the fun is getting there and back, in one piece.  We believe in teamwork on the trail and leave no one behind, everyone pitches in when a vehicle had difficulties or break.  Don’t go wheeling alone.  Come join us on one of our many trips!

TRIP UPDATES AND WHATS NEW:

LAST WEEKEND WE HAD SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WEATHER ALL YEAR DURING OUR TRIPS.  BLUE SKIES, COOL AND JUST A SLIGHT BREEZE ACCOMPANIED US ON THE 5 TRAILS WE RAN.  GRIZZLY LAKE WAS GREAT!  THE FIRST OBSTACLE PROVED CHALLENGING AS NORMAL, I WAS ABLE TO WALK OVER IT EASILY WITH THE 37” TIRES.  DAVE AND LAURA NEEDED A STRAP AND GLENN MADE IT UP AFTER SEVERAL TRIES.  THE HILL CLIMB WAS MUCH MORE LOOSE THAN I REMEMBER.  THE REST OF THE TRIP WAS NICE.

WE JUMPED OVER TO THE BOULDER FIELD ON IRON CHEST AFTER LUNCH.  EVERYONE MADE IT UP AND DOWN THE BOULDER FIELD WITH VERY LITTLE ISSUES.  VIDEOS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE TRIP PICTURE PAGE.  THE ROAD TO HANCOCK HAD JUST OPENED ON FRIDAY FROM A HUGE WASHOUT SO WE HEADED UP TO WILLIAMS PASS.   WILLIAMS PASS WAS DRY AND ROCKY AND ABOUT HALF WAY UP DAVE LOST A BOLT TO THE LOWER CONTROL ARM.  LUCKILY I HAD A BOLT THAT FIT AND WE WERE ON OUR WAY AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES IN A VERY LIGHT RAIN.

WE HEADED OVER TO THE ALPINE TUNNEL ENTRANCE ON THE WEST SIDE TO ENJOY THE VIEW AND USE THE CIVILIZED BATHROOM.  IT WAS DECIDED AT THAT POINT TO HEAD BACK TO CAMP OVER HANCOCK PASS, A BEAUTIFUL TRIP.

SUNDAY FOUND US ON BALDWIN LAKES.  DAVE, LAURA AND I RAN THE TRIP FAIRLY QUICKLY.  I LIKE IT BETTER WITH SNOW.  IT WAS A COLDER DAY BUT THE SUN DID COME OUT FOR LUNCH AND AGAIN THE SCENERY WAS AWESOME.  A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL.

Click on the box to download the OHV registration form.  It isn’t mandatory to register your vehicle and it will not conflict with your state registration.  Many programs that keep our trails open in Colorado are operated and maintained by the OHV fund.  This is a great opportunity to show our support to the state and motorized outdoor recreation.
